Chet, I saw the email from Ken Evoy re blogging not being a good business model and he has some good points but there are some huge factors that were ignored:
- SBI sites take an age to build - and I spoke to one of Ken's protege's and he agreed
- you can now add pages to blogs so they are not just "tips" - Yaro's blog is a clear demonstrator of this fact
- I checked SBI case study sites and you CAN achieve better results and faster with a blog
I used to be an SBI owner so do know a thing or two about their sites and I won't forget that it was Ken of SBI who gave me a firm foundation in SEO.
That said, and whilst it has got a lot better, there is a degree of inflexibility in the SBI software, the templates are ugly and I would not be surprised if more people gave up using the software before they done building the site.
My personal suggestion is that you use a theme which allows a clear layout of pages and posts, use good categories and do more than ramble on your blog. Perhaps even start with a 10 part series to give it some initial structure.
Hope this helps.
