Welcome to the forum Alex.

Your site looks very nice. Good idea, simple layout etc. Let's get those kids healthy! In fact, I believe the UK is the most obese nation in Western Europe now, kids included.

I was just wondering what the benefits were for the compulsory membership on your site as I was asked to log on when attempting to view any recipes?

Visitors usually need to know why they are being asked to join a site to view its content, so it might be an idea to say something along the lines of ‘To view out extensive collections of healthy recipes for kids, you must log on. Not a member? Don’t worry, it’s free to join and only takes a minute’…†¦â€¦â€¦â€¦à ƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã‚¦Or something similar but I’m sure you get the idea.

You could also have a check box option in the membership submit form, that allows the user to be included in your free newsletter.

My site is free to view and use for the most part but it's a members only site for those that want to interact i.e. submit apartments, post in the free ads, save searches to their wish lists etc.

It's just a minor point, but I know personally that my visitors numbers would plummet if folk had to login just to browse the content.

Finally, if you’re serious about building emails lists, it might be a good idea to have your Newsletter Registration options above the fold (top of the page). You could also repeat it on some other selected pages too so that folks defiantly see it.

Good luck with it Alex and we hope to see you participating in the forums now that you've hatched out of the lurker shell Lol!

Cheers

Aitch
