I'm putting a section together in Blog Traffic School on tagging your blog at the moment but I thought I'd tell any forums members who blog currently if you are not using tags get doing it ASAP.
I implemented an internal tagging and technorati tagging system and I've had some pretty great search results now after a month or so - mainly from google. Some of my tag keywords are bringing in search traffic and it's amazing how well some of tags are working in the search results pages. If you haven't implemented tags yet - get doing it now!

If your blog uses categories (as in Wordpress), then the categories automatically get turned into tags. This is why it is important to give some thought to your category names.
If your blog does not use categories (such as Blogger), you can still add tags. Just go to the Technorati page for the tag you want, and they will give you the code to add (look at the left sidebar). If your blog is all about one thing (for example "running", then just add this tag to your template and it will automatically be applied to every post). It is really worth it, Blaine, you should just do it! I get some good traffic from Technorati this way. |
