Hi there Yaro,
I recently signed up to your blog and think it's wonderful by the way. Yaro I'm an affiliate for many health products and wanted to ask you how to go about adding podcasts to a blog or website? Now this is not for my own podcasts but I'd like to feature some interviews (podcasts) from various health professionals to add to my affiliate sites to gain some extra interest and hopefully subscribers. Are you able to point me in the right direction? Cheers, Gaetano |

Hi Gaetano - If you don't actually want produce the podcasts the first thing you need to do is get the rights to distribute the audio of whatever you do want to make available as a podcast. Do you have some audio recordings in mind?
All you need is MP3 files, which you link to from a blog entry and technically you have a podcast. If you haven't done so already I suggest you read my introduction to podcasting - What is a Podcast and How Can I Use One? Basically it's just two steps - 1. Upload MP3 to your server 2. Create a blog entry linking to the MP3 If the MP3 is hosted elsewhere then you only need to do step two and link to the external server. Does that answer your question?

Hi again Yaro,
Does this also apply to podcasts from itunes? For example if i found some recording i liked on itunes is there any way that i could add the link to that podcast from my website as you pointed out in step 2? Kind regards, Gaetano |

Well, if for example you were to directly link to one of my podcasts in a blog post on your blog, it would appear as an enclosure and technically be a podcast. Of course I wouldn't have a problem with that since you are helping me to increase exposure for my podcasts.
However that being said, some people may not want that to happen, perhaps because of bandwidth restrictions, so it may be smart to always ask first - and that includes linking to iTunes podcasts. I'm not sure if you can direct link to individual podcasts on iTunes, but I know you can link to "podcast homepages" on itunes - not sure exactly how though - you would have to look up the help files in iTunes. Hope that helps!

If you do find out about iTunes integration with a blog, or if anyone else knows already, I'd appreciate it if you could reply here so we can all learn (including me!) how you are using iTunes with your blog.
Yaro
