I seem to be experiencing problems with Bloglines.

Feeds suddenly showing posts as 'new' when I have already read them for example.

Anybody else having this problem?

It's not the first time this has happened and I'm now looking around for an alternative web based feed manager.

Recommendations?

I think it's either a standard bloglines issue or if it's only isolated to one blog or a few (say all the feedburner feed blogs) then it might be something specific like a change of server for that blog or feedburner issue.

I'd just wait to see what happens or start surfing the blogosphere for "bloglines problems" as bloggers tend to blog about bloglines when it's not working...

phew, I just wrote "blog" way too many times...

Hi. Is the following what you're experiencing?
  1. You read a post.
  2. The blog author updates the post. (For example, he fixes a spelling error.)
  3. You see the post as though it were new.
This is how Bloglines works by default. To fix this, click on the feed in the left pane, then click on "edit subscription" in the right pane. In the "Edit Subscription" window, for "Updated Items," select "Ignore." The default is "Display As New." The only way to fix this is for every single feed. (I wish they had a global setting for this, but they don't AFAICT.)

Hope this helps,
-TimK

Thanks for the feedback guys!

Yaro - You're right. After googling Bloglines it seems I'm not the only one grumbling about problems at the moment.

Tim - Good suggestion. However not the issue here sadly. I choose the setting you recommended for new blog additions anyhow. The problem seems to be that Bloglines is sending notification that ALL the entries for a blog since inception are new. In some cases they are telling me hundreds of posts are "new".

In any case I've decided to trial the following service (beta) for the time being ...
