Today I received an e-mail that quite surprised me. May be Word press is talking about the free version that they host. Any comments on the below extract of the e-mail will be helpful.
.................................................. ........... It's come to my attention that Wordpress is cracking down on Affiliate Marketing Blogs. This is news to me. But that's the nature of the Internet - it's constantly changing and evolving. I have included links to the terms of service at WordPress.com and what you can do about it below... Terms of Service: Terms of Service « WordPress.com "...content designed to drive traffic to third party sites or boost the search engine rankings of third party sites." Types of Unacceptable Blogs: Types of Blogs « WordPress.com "Affiliate marketing blogs: Blogs with the primary purpose of driving traffic to affiliate programs." What can you do? Tell Wordpress support you are creating an honest and unbiased affiliate review site. Ask what you need to do to comply with their terms. As an alternative, you can use Blogger.com. There is nothing in their terms about affiliate blogs. Blogger.com Content Policy: Blogger: Content Policy Let me know how it goes... Regards, |

Hi,
IMHO, wordpress is the most stable and secure blogging platform. The best bet is to download wordpress software from wordpress.org and host your blog yourself. By doing this, you are free to do anything, including affiliate marketing, putting google adsense in your blog, etc. I've used Bloggers for a long time, but the limitations is killing me If you want freedom, Wordpress is for you. And, oh, another big plus of WP, is that due to its popularity, many smart programmers out there are creating useful and powerful applications for WP - resulting in a more flexible, more options, and more secure blog. Cheers! ![]() |
