new at this - go stuck - any suggestions?

Hi
I am just going throught the videos.
Thank you Yaro for the wonderful resources!
I have been having difficulties with video five, connecting.
I am entering the user name and password to my account with hostgator.
Is that the correct one to use when I want to ftp to the subdomains in that account?
Could someone please explain the data entry in the area
site manager, select site name (of destination site) - sitename.com ?
general box:
host: I have put in the ip number of my hostgator account
servertype: put ftp
logontype put normal
user name: put the user name for the hostgator account (main domain account)
password: put the password for the hostgator account (ditto)
I would greatly appreciate some assistance - I have been trying for a while and haven't been able to work out what is wrong in the things I am doing.
I am getting the message - could not connect to the server (and can get to other sites, etc ok)

I think I finally have it sorted!
I turned off firewall,
ftp went through ok
then I turned the firewall back on again.
Only took me...oh... hours!! to work that one out!
Guess I'm just a slow learner
