Default creating pages

Hi Everyone
I am thinking of doing an 8 lesson course at my community college on creating web pages to help me create my blog. Is it helpful to know things like html etc, or would it be a waste of my time/money? Do you really need to know these things if you start a wordpress blog that you eventually will be getting web hosting for down the track?
Many thanks for any replies received
lch

Knowing a little HTML doesn't hurt, but it isn't necessary by any stretch of the imagination. I've always gone with my own webhosting from the get go; the tools these days make it very easy to get up and running on your own.

Default My best kick start helper was Caroline Middlebrook.

I have been Blogging with Google Blogger Blogs for many years but was struggling the longest time with WordPress. It just did not come easy to me and I have a good technical background.

Then a few months ago I downloaded Caroline-Middlebrook's free ebook on how to build WordPress websites and there has been no stopping. I now have a couple dozen WP sites all in various stages of growth but I now GET IT!

caroline-middlebrook.com

She is now on a StumbleUpon promotion program after being a member of this Blog Mastermind course the last time, but I think her free ebook is probably still available. It was VERY easy to understand.

I never read the wordpress ebook, but it isn't 100% relevant anymore now that Wordpress has changed their administrative screens around.

This week, though, she is providing daily video implementation lessons to replace the ebook, of which I've seen the first 2 so far.

Here is the link to her series:
How to Develop Money-Making Niche Sites with WordPress | Caroline Middlebrook

I've also bought her stumble rush course, and it's very good and well worth the money if you want to learn how to become a power stumbler and to reap the benefits of such. Just be aware that dominating any social network is going to involve a lot of time so I'd wait for that until after you have your blogging rhythm well established.

IMHO it is of great help to know HTML if you want to tweak a template to your liking for instance. Not sure what you mean by "getting webhosting", to me it simply means hiring space on a web server = a web hosting account.
