Question Blog color choices

I've been working on finding a blog template style that I like, and was just wondering if anyone knows if traditional marketing wisdom about colors holds true when it comes to blogs?

TIA,
Sunae.

Interesting question. I guess the short answer is YES - since from the user's perspective it likely makes little difference if the message is presented on a blog platform or a regular site.

Sure, I went thru some frustration trying to find a good template - there are many horrible (or b-o-r-i-n-g) ones out there!

Apparently, it is psychological, so it applies to anything, not just marketing.

There is a really excellent site called "Color in Motion" by Maria Claudia Cortes.

COLOR IN MOTION / Main

It is great!

It explains all the emotions produced by certain colours, which colours compliment each other and so on.

I always refer to it.

Great resource...thanks!

I think one thing to keep in mind is to avoid really dark themes. They can be very hard on the eyes and you want people to feel comfortable enough to stick around for a while, y'know?

Have a mascot graphic on your blog.
A graphic which can represent your look with little cartoon/funny flavored.

It represents yourself as fun loving person. And everyone likes happy, fun loving people.

thx

To answer your question, yes. Colors have alot to do with choosing your blog template. It is one of those make-or-break your blog things. There are a couple resources out there explaining colors and how people think of them. For example:

Blue is calm and professional, whereas red is power.

If you are interested, I would suggest you listen to an episode of my podcast where I delve into this topic. In episode #41 of my show, I continue on in the area of branding your business, but this could apply to blogs very easily. Here is the link: Taylor Marek Podcast » #41 Sponsored by GoDaddy: When will you be a millionaire, Color Branding, and Lower Quad-Core Pricing

THAT SITE IS AWESOME! Thank you for sharing it!

Color matching is not my strong suit. I chose the blog theme I have (at the moment) for it's solemnity... I think. But it looks like I'll be searching for a new theme. I shoulda stuck with my favorites, purple and blue.

confused,

Part of the forums are public; as you pay money you get access to some of the better threads and more specific topics.

Oh! I didn't realize that. Well, as I haven't seen any spam in here until now, I guess I thought the whole forum was protected from that garbage. Thx for the info.

Oh, and no wonder I've not seen any spam. It's gone now! LOL!
