Hello Yaro,
I just viewed your videos on conversion blogging and your blog profits blueprint. Thank you so much for all the great free info. I've done a little blogging using the free google blog, but would like to get better results with improving traffic and eventually make some money with my blog. And so I have looked into different types of blog service companies out there to use, I know you have recommended Wordpress, but I have also heard that Six Apart - Blog and Blogi360.com - The Web site That works for you! are also good. Just wanted to get your feedback on the two blog companies I had just mentioned compared to Wordpress you recommend. Your input and thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again for all you do. You Rock! |

I'm not Yaro, but I've had good experiences with Wordpress. I haven't used blogi360 at all, but I avoid using typepad and blogger and those types of blogs because I want to host it myself and maintain control over my experience.
I don't want to be at the whim of Google or Six Apart to say they don't like my blog and just delete it on me. If I host it myself, I can back it up regularly and I can move to a new host any time that I want to. I also get the benefit of having my own domain name and being able to customize my site however I want, rather than just how they tell me that I can. I really like Wordpress themes and plugins, and the interface is just as intuitive (if not more so) than Six Apart's - although any interface gets easy enough once you've used it for a little while.

Blaine, I would have to agree with you. Although I tend to have a little bias towards Wordpress, it works perfectly for me.
I can see the issues with several other blog platforms that they might disconnect you for whatever reason. I'll just give my thoughts on both of them while I'm at it. All of them have their advantages and disadvantages over each other, but alot of it has to do with what one will best suit your needs. I know a friend that uses Movable Type and enjoys it very much, as it suits his needs very well. Blogi360.com is a platform that I've never seen or heard of before, so I wouldn't be able to know exactly what sets it apart from the others. It seems to do the same thing from what I can read on the website... I use WordPress for the ease of use, adhering to web standards, and the look and feel of it in general. I was also very easy to setup on my servers, I seemed to have alot of issues trying to install moveable type. What are you looking at getting started blogwise? Getting your own hosting and using a blog platform off of that, or using a free site-hosted version of one? Let us know, and we might be able to steer you in the direction of one that would fit you well -Taylor

My 2 cents worth...
Wordpress is really unbeatable. It's free, it's frequently updated and improved upon. There are thousands of free themes, many really nice ones, plugins for just about everything you could want to do and more being developed all the time. Most, if not all, good hosting companies offer one-click installs for Wordpress, and make upgrading just as easy. In the past I've used a lot of different blog platforms, but I kept coming back to Wordpress. It's what Yaro recommends and I agree with all of his reasons for recommending Wordpress. These other two platforms that you are considering, what features do they have which Wordpress doesn't? What would compel you to choose them over Wordpress?

I could tell you that the more experienced users could use those tools.
Now, WordPress.org (self-hosted version) is what works the best in my experience, what I'm using, and what I recommend all my blogging mentoring students use too ![]() Hope it helps.
