Buying Subscribers at Getresponse

Hi,

I was just mooching around GetResponse and I see that I can buy subscribers from them. Has anybody ever done that and was it worth while?

I personally use Aweber.com for my mailing list. As for subscribers, I haven't done that in the sense of buying them. I remember when I was looking at the same situation you are in and how nice it would be for more people to be stopping by my site, but then I thought against it. I could just see myself buying "leads" having them stop by the site, then click onto another website. Basically paying for leads that are opted in and are interested, but breeze over your site or the e-mail lands in the spam box.

If you want to try this option out, go ahead. I would be interested in the results you come up with. Let us know how that goes. We're all ears

I wouldn't buy subscribers for my list that didn't sign up of their own accord. I want people to come to my sites and opt to join my list so that I am not spamming them.

In terms of paying for advertising or offering bribes to people to convince them to join, then yes, I buy subscribers that way.

On further investigation at GetResponse I see that this is how it works:

When a subscriber of 'any' newsletter unsubscribes they get to see a page that confirms their unsubcription, and offers them a list of others (related) that they might like to try. It seems that if you opt to buy a subscriber, your advert for your newsletter is displayed here, if they opt in, you pay.

It's an interesting one, but I guess because no body has replied with a 'yes I did it and this happened...' then it's not a very well thought of route.

On a side note - is Aweber more popular than GR?

Ok.....here's the deal with GR 'powerleads'!

I bought a package of 500 (about $150 I think) when I first started in Online Business.
The quality of leads was excellent although I take some credit for writing a great ad!
The subscribers were slow to come by though - only 3-4 per day but that was better than the none I started out with!
None of these subscribers have opted out!
I provide a 400 part newsletter offering tips on best ways to do business online (get it in my sig with 6 free ebooks!) and then of course do the broadcast selling etc.
These leads worked well for me and I for one, would highly recommend them!
You can read about it here they have acheived around $22-$32 per GR subscriber, so far.

Thats my 2 bobs worth - hope it helped!
Oh..and I have used both Aweber and GR and I find GR a bit more lenient when it comes to co-registration leads etc - although in my experience, they both have excellent customer service!

Hi Kym,

That's very interesting to hear thank you. It seems that when you are just starting out (like me - only been blogging since beginning of August) everything is spend, spend, spend. Not only money but time as well so it would be nice to get some return in investment sooner rather than later just to start covering the costs.

Your posts seems to suggest that these leads will actually work, but it would be very good to hear from someone who isn't so happy with them - just for balance.
