Default Starting Up A Blog

My name is Bud, and I am sixteen and currently live in Shangahi China. I have a passion for writing and was hoping to set up a blog. I have already bought a domain name "www.aboundlessworld.com" and am hosted by dream host, after that I have nothing. I tried installing wordpress but I have found it to be very complicated as I am pretty new to all this blogging technical stuff. I have wordpress for dummies but am still struggling. I am aware of the website What Is Blogging? We Explain Blogging So That You Too Can Become A Blogger | Become A Blogger and viewed a view of the videos when I was visiting in the United States but they do not load for some reason in China (internet restrictions?) I was also thinking about possibly getting blog mastermind but that is quite a heavy investment, especially since my parents don't even know you can make money online.. I was hoping some one could help me get my blog set up and running, because I have a lot to share with the world

If you go into the dreamhost control panel, look for fantastico under the scripts or programs section (I don't have a dreamhost account anymore so I can't look it up specifically where it is) - there is a 1 click install for wordpress from within there that you can use.

Bud

Though a little off track, may I advise you to first try a blog at blogger.com (as you are unable to run wordpress). You'll have the initial feel of the things and I think, within a short time, you'll pick up WP as well.

I will have to disagree with you ia77. I started a blogspot blog for about 1 1/2 weeks and all it did was put me 1 1/2 weeks behind. You will still need to learn how to use wordpress. If you're going to start, you should start the right way.

I'd have to agree with Jake on the Blogger issue. Yaro recently wrote an article on it a well. Back in the days when I ran a static site I used Blogger to host an archive of articles. But with the advent of WordPress, archiving on a separate site isn't necessary for most bloggers.

Bud921 - Hang in there and if you can, get a copy of WordPress for Dummies by Lisa Sabin-Wilson. I think I'm pretty savvy when it comes to WP, but the book is a goldmine for little-known facts and tweaks. I learn each time I review a chapter.

Good luck.

Default Don't do that!

Stay away from blogger/blogspot. While it seems easier than WP, it's not.

I hate to talk bad about that service since it's from a site which I love: Google.

Yet, I find wordpress.org via dreamhost very easy to install.

My blog mentoring program even includes step-by-step screen-capture video tutorials that help you with this important aspect.

Hope to see you get in asap
