Default Wordpress 2.6.3 Upgrade

I have another question. I downloaded the new upgrade to my desktop and tried to following the installation instructions for the upgrade but I am not sure if I did this correctly.

My dashboard is still indicating to download the upgrade. Can someone in simpler instructions tell me what I need to do once I have this unzipped on my desktop.

I have Filezilla. What I did was open my account with my blog site and uploaded the files to my public-html. I think this may be incorrect.

Can someone tell me what I have to do to get this completed correctly?

Thanks
Sher

Is your blog located at the root of your domain? You need to copy the files into the same location as they already are on your server, so if you have your blog in a subdirectory you would have to upload them there.

For this update, there's actually only 2 files that need to be updated, since it just fixes a very minor security bug.

Default Upgrade Problems Yet With Filezilla

Blaine
You have been so helpful but I am still having problems. I have uploaded my files to all respective wordpress folders. The next step states to run the install program but I am not able to do that.

Can you give me simpler instructions to do the upgrade? I have the new download on my computer and uploaded the files in Filezilla but I am not sure what I need to do after that.

I still get the message to upgrade on my admin dashboard.

I can't really help past uploading the files and following the directions at the wordpress website...you should send it over to your tech person and have them troubleshoot the problem.

Default Yaro - Any Ideas

Yaro
Please take a look at my below e-mails regarding upgrading to Wordpress 2.6.3.

I have not started any blogging yet on my Wordpress account and I can not uprgade wordpress.

Would it be possible to start over with your tutorial instructions for adding wordpress to Filezilla?

Any ideas, how I can get Wordpress upgraded and get rid of the notice on my dashboard to upgrade?

I can not find anyone to get in touch with for technical help. I really want to get this fixed, so I can continue.

Please help me.
THanks
Sherri

Hi Sher,
I use a plugin Wordpress-Automatic-Upgrade. It is just a matter of clicking on a link and the plugin does the hard yards. All you have to do is answer/confirm the questions along the way. Too easy

Smile Word Press Ugrade

Trax
Thanks for the information. Sometimes, I get so frustrated that I get totally lost and don't know which way to turn.

I am going to look for this plug-in and hopefully that will help.

Have a great weekend.
