Default do you blog for cash or just for fun

Why do you blog, to make extra money, as a living, just fun, as a political tool or something else?

Please let everyone know.

I am in it for fun but I also enjoy the challenges involved with blogging for cash. It like a game with money as the reward for me.

Same here, basically. I enjoy sharing what I know, but eventually want to make a bit more than pocket change for my efforts.

Entirely for fun - I love writing.
There are so many ways money can show up in my life and if it comes through my blog fine, if it comes other ways fine.

great question, which makes us all wonder why we started blogging and keep blogging?!

maybe there is this little thought in the back of our minds (yours too)...what if my blog takes off and gets tons of traffic and a great PR???!

i think for most of us, blogging starts out as fun...trying out a new medium, getting interactive with lots of other bloggers etc. but wouldn't we all love to make some pocket money on the side?!

hey have fun blogging and make some cash too (if possible)! aloha, pua Get a Taste of Hawaii

At first when I started blogging it wasn't so fun but since I like writing it became more fun and I was able to come up with different topics to write about. I think it's still a little challenging to come up with things to write but it's getting a little easier. I would also like to make some money from blogging too.

Default You Must Love Blogging To Make Money out of it

Hi

The old adage comes in here: "Do what you love doing and money will follow" You have to enjoy some fun writing what you want people to read. I mean it has to be some fun for you in the beginning when writing blogs, otherwise the whole thing would not be natural.

Much later money and even more fun will come in.

Thanks.

I do a bit of both. It started as a hobby, but now I reckon I should
at least be able to make enough to pay for beer every month

I've been going back and forth.
At first I decided to start a blog using a Wordpress theme that was designed just for Adsense.
Then I realized that if I saw a blog that was as new, empty and unprofessional as mine and it had, like, fifty little Adsense squares, my reaction would be "what is this guy thinking. Putting ads on this?!?"
So, I changed WP themes to a non-ad one. That's how it is now.

I would like to put just one ad on a page but I can't figure out how to do it.

The plug-in directions say put this in your post: <---adsense---->. I tried it and it disappeared from my Text editor after I saved it. Never did reappear anywhere.

So, as of now, I'll just keep babbling on my site for fun. My parents kicked the bucket in 2000 and 2001 so my blog is my therapy.

Feels good to get it out , whether anyone else likes it or not.

People who share the Mesothelioma and Alzheimers experience with me might enjoy it but I can't imagine anyone else willingly subjecting themselves to my site.

I did take forum advice today. I made it so you don't have to jump through a million hoops to comment on my posts. Now someone can spam away.
I check often so nastiness won't stay up long anyway.
Rick

First, I could be wrong and your plugin may be different, but every time that I have seen that it has been <!--adsense--> and not with the extra dashes.

You may need to edit the HTML source to make it work, rather than using the rich text editor.

Thanks for the help.

Let me get this straight:

The instructions say insert this: "<!----Adsense---->" into my post or wherever I want the ad to end up.

Are you saying that I should use this instead "<Adense>"?

When I am at the text editor I click on the HTML link which opens the HTML version of the post. I don't know if that is what you mean by source but any changes made there seem to work.

I am going to try the non-dashed insertion.

Thanks
