Question A blog about planning

Hey guys, I've been thinking about launching a blog about 'planning.'

The blog will have posts with information for planning, planning anything - buying a car, a computer, a house, planning a wedding, baby, career, what not.

The way I see it, the plus points would be:

1. Never at a loss for content.
2. Posts/threads are very likely to attract comments with personal experiences from visitors.
3. Since the content is widespread, the ads generated by Google Adsense will be equally relevant to the keywords.
4. If managed well, opportunities for fresh and original content will open up daily.
5. General benefits to the community for insights into planning anything.

On the flip side, how well will it be favoured by search engines?
Will the spiders ignore it for lack of focus?

Well, these questions might seem silly to anyone experienced in blogging, I think. But I'm a beginner, and have just set out to make the best use of whatever opportunities abound on the Internet!

So let me please have your comments!!!

Hi Ravi - first up I think it's a great idea, provided you really have solid advice about planning on such a range of things. I think it could possibly be a good Lifehacker, the Productivity and Software Guide style blog that could potentially do very well if you keep the advice coming thick and fast.

However that's a huge workload for one person and really there isn't one person in the entire world who can write knowledgeably about how to plan so many different things.

If you plan on doing it all on your own then I recommend you instead aim to focus on a smaller niche. Just pick one area like weddings or something and you could do very well.

Alternatively look to bring on a panel of expert writers who all contribute content, but that might be tricky if you don't have the funds to pay people.

In terms of SEO and the spiders etc - that will be fine as long as you produce regular content.

I hope that helps!

Thanks for your input Yaro.

Yep, I soon realized I was trying to act Atlas, trying to take on everything. I saw that 'planning' can become virtually endless, with topics inside sub-topics inside sub-topics. I was starting to lose focus, and was already thinking in terms of what you said - like focus on one area and try and cover all the sub- sub- sub-topics. I should be able to find a niche like that..... after all, isn't everyone good at 'something'??? lol

But i definitely can't afford paying for my resources, so will have to borrow some info off the Web, and I'm looking at content sites now.

Another quick question: When I take some material from someone else, can I just put a link back to that page, or should Iask his/her permission to do that??

Laters, guys, I'll be around.
