After reading up a fair bit about ‘niche’ content sites I was curious to know why the authors of these posts and or blogs, didn’t have links to their sites from their blogs in order to direct traffic to them?

My first understanding is that they’ve put a lot of time and effort into creating these sites and if others know of them and therefore began to copy cat was has already been achieved, then not only would these niche content sites have ‘unwanted competition’ they also run the risk of not remaining quite so ‘niche like’ depending to what degree these sites were successfully copied. Am I right?

Also, would it be a good idea to set up a blog that links back to a series of your related ‘niche’ sites if the purpose of that blog is not on the subject of AIS. For example, you may have a blog on Buddhism and all your niche content sites could be related to side topics on Buddhist, Buddhism, relaxation, personnel wellbeing, inner strength etc etc...

As long as the blog was not related to making money from niche content sites, therefore not revealing or giving away what you’ve setup and why, can I assume this is a recommended system to kick start your niche empire.

Look forward to any replies on the above.

Aitch

Myself and most people I know who are into the AIS thing have two blogs- a public one, and a private "niche" blog to give backlinks.

1. It keeps others from discovering our niches

2. Blogs that exsist for the purpose of linking niche sites get turned off a lot by blogger, so its good to not invest time, energy, and posts into something that might be gone next week- you can just open another one.

Same as Chance here, one public, one private. If I wasn't using Blogger then I might incorporate more of my AIS sites on the public one. BLogger seem quite keen on tracking down sites they term 'sp@m' sites. Even Burty / Gary had an email from them regarding his public blog!

Indeed so. I am probably slightly different as I have no private blog - I let my sites get found "naturally" by giving them links from existing sites.

As Chris pointed out, my own blog was picked up by Google as a spam blog! I wrote about it here...they are quite hot on weeding out "splogs" (SPam bLOGS)...

And hence the importance of posting stuff to your blog that is actually interesting or controversial enough to elicit replies from your readers.

AIS: Automated income streams

The general idea is you make money without having to do anything - usually they involve a lot of work to set up, but then once you have it in place it brings in cash without you babysitting it full time.

Realistically, most AIS requires an hour or two minimum a week to maintain. Which is still better than 40 hours.

hmm, hadn't thought of having private blogs?
maybe I'll use my wordpress.com subdomain blogs as private ones because I just discovered they don't allow adsense.

glad I joined this forum

I'm betting I'll learn more...
