Default Dreamhost hosts like a nightmare

My site was down about 3 days ago, I sent an e-mail to their support team but got no return.
It was 500 internal error, I checked online and found out that I was not alone. Many fellows with dreamhost have experienced this.
Have any of you guys been through this?
I know this problem won't be long since sooner or later it will be solved. But it really sucks to see my site down and not able to upload new articles!

I don't use DreamHost for my own sites anymore, although I still have one of my mother's websites on there.

Even when it is up and running, the site is noticably slower than when I host with other companies, so I gave up on them.

I just recently switched from DH.
I had been with them for 2 years.
My experience was pretty good with their support staff.

Have you checked out the status blog?
If I remember right they have a way for you to check on the status of the server you're on.

I agree with you Blaine. After hearing all the tech issues that go on fron numerous people, I didn't go with dreamhost.

I went with Domain Names and Web Hosting by IPOWER for all my sites. Technical issues have been a minimum, although if there was a problem, tech support was right there to help. And when I mean right there, live chat is always on and phone support is only numbers away.

What other hosts have you looked at? Out of curiosity, how did you happen to choose dreamhost?

Sorry to reply so late, I got so stuck with the paper in school.
The problem is now solved, tech support from Dreamhost was not timely yet helpful indeed.
After hearing all about the setbacks about Dreamhost, I figure there is nothing I can do to make a change since I've paid a whole year of renting their host.
I guess I just have to make do with it. As long as problems can be solved, it's OK if it is solved a little bit late.
I appreciate you guys helping me out here! Thx.
