Default Is Host Gator good for web hosting?

I posted earlier about web hosting services and I have done a lot of research on Host Gator and have really heard a lot good about it. Has anyone on here had experience with it?

I've used them for a couple of years and really am impressed. Their support, by and large, is first rate. They do have some support staff who give duff answers but if you don't like the answer you get just fire off another request and you will normally get someone more helpful.

What i do know is I lost an entire site once and asked them to recover it from their backups and the site was back online within an hour.

My wifes Joomla site got hacked and taken over and they sorted that out really fast too. Including scanning and cleaning it and resetting the password. Whenever you have a problem, there is always a quick response.

I fully recommend them.

I have used host gator for 6 years now and have never run into any issues with them. They have a very high uptime, and great service.

You can also get the first months hosting for $0.99 if you go to google and type in host gator coupon codes.

Default HostGator

Hi, thanks Mark, I too have been looking into various options to Host on but have seen a lot of links to HostGator and feel this may be the way for a Newbie.

Wink Hostgator

I signed up with Hostgator with the coupon code and a $50 rebeate.
Just do a search for the coupon and you will see it. Haven't gotten my rebate check yet. Hope it's not a scam

Thumbs up

Let you guys in on a secret about Hostgator...

You can ask (and you have to ask, this is not posted anywhere) for a "green reseller" package, it'll run you only $15.00 a month.

It's a good option if you want to host multiple domains on their own cPanels instead of as addons. If you ever plan to resell any of your blogs, this makes the process much easier for you.

The green reseller is a smaller package than the normal reseller package, but it still ends up giving you an "unlimited" number of domains you can host.

I love it and I love Hostgator. 10 years, never a problem and when I went to move my article directory, which has a massive database, from a regular website account to the reseller account, they did it with no problems. And when I screwed it up (*blush*) they fixed it for me!

It's a good choice, I think.

I've a problem with Hostgator recently. After I switched to their hosting, I couldn't upload any image onto my blog. I didn't have the problem when I was using another hosting company.

A friend of mine told me that they have disabled the 777 permission and do not allow users to write files to their server over the internet. I've no idea what all these technical jargons mean, but I do know that it was really frustrating when I couldn't upload images to my blog.

Now I'm looking for another hosting company. Any recommendation?

Cheers~

Mark

You can find a lot of good information about which host to use by perusing this thread, where a lot of people have weighed in on different experiences with different companies:

WHAT?? This can't be! This week, alone, I've been uploading images and chmod-ding files and all kinds of that sort of thing! I've had no problems at all!

Have you tried the forum at Hostgator?
forums.hostgator.com

They've also been really good (to me) about answering support tickets in a timely fashion. I've even used their live text chat very successfully.
