Default Will DDR2 800 work in DDR2 1066 Slot?

Just wondering if DDR2 800 memory will work in slots that say the Memory Standard is DDR2 1066. I have 12 GB of DDR2 800 memory from my motherboard that crapped out, and am looking into purchasing a new mobo that supports my current components. Don't want to purchase more memory, so was hoping I could use the ones I have.

I searched around and found conflicting answers, so figured I'd ask here.

Thanks.

In general, yes, you can use a DDR2 800 stick in a faster rated slot. YMMV based on manufacturer though.

My recommendation is to just upgrade the RAM; it's really cheap these days.
