New Blogger Needs Techie

Dear Helpers at The Forum

I am a new blogger and I originally set up an account with GoDaddy for a new domain name and their quickblog which included hosting.

Then I signed up with Yaro for the course in blogging and he suggests WordPress.org through Dreamhost. I canceled the GoDaddy account.

I registered the same domain with Dreamhost and hosting, got it confimed that they had it and used their automatic download to WordPress.org

I was thrilled that it worked and started setting up my blog.

After 24 hours I got this message on my email and then I no longer had access to my wordpress.org.


We were unable to set up wordpress as requested at:
Personal-Growth-with-Corinne-Edwards

The problem was directory /home/miraclady/personal-growth-with-corinne-edwards.com is not empty! Please re-install, specifying an empty (or new) directory.

Please correct this and go to our web panel and re-submit your
wordpress installation request.

I am at a complete loss on how to do this. Word Press will no longer take the down load until I do.

Can you please help me????? My telephone is 773 338 9070 if you need to talk to me. I would like to establish a relationship with someone who is technically adept preferably in the US so I can talk to him/her on the phone.

I am sure I will need some coaching in the future if I ever get this going.

I have tried friends who are experienced and put in a query to the free wordpress service. No answer from them.

Blogs and wordpress is not something my tech friends are familiar with.

Hi, Corinne,

Dreamhost won't automatically install a blog in a place where one has already been installed, and that's what it sounds like in this case.

Do you have content in your blog already that you don't have saved elsewhere? The easiest thing to do is to wipe out the existing blog and start from scratch. But if you've customized and added content, it's also possible to get around these issues, just a little more work.
