Whats the most effective way to promote my web site?

I have an online travel agency and I Have no clue on how to get people to go and book travel on my site or where to go promte it. What ideas do you have that can maybe help me grow my online buisness and be profitable.

I suggest joining Blog Mastermind and following all of the steps through to marketing. There are a lot of good tips in there.

I started with all the free business promotion sites. Insiderpages.com is the best but there are a lot of them. Make sure you are as descriptive as possible with those sites.

Step two is get your happy customers to review you on the business promotion sites. You will rank much higher in google with positive feedback. Many customers are happy to help, if they realize the feedback really is helpfull.

My next step is google adwords and SEO optimization.

You can have various options like SEO, SMO etc but in my opinion the most effective way to promote your website is through providing enough value to your readers.

I’m a big believer in getting tons of free traffic without any paid advertising by connecting with my readers.

How about writing a free report on booking your holiday or getting ready for your holiday?

You could advise people on what they need to remember to do and advise them on insurance and so on.

Then on your blog provide them with advice on the different types of insurance cover, travelling via plane, train or ferry, baggage, gadgets, currency exchange, vaccinations, switching off household appliances, arranging pet care and so on.

You could also provide reviews of holiday destinations and sell guide books and such.

You could use the report to build a list to promote your business by telling people about your latest holiday offers and offering holidaying tips.

Don't go for the hard sell, because people look for advice on the internet as well as book holidays.

If you can become known as the 'Holiday Guy' (or Girl), then people are more likely to buy through you, because you will have established trust and pre-eminence.

You also need to consider who your target audience is and whether or not to specialise in certain holiday types (Club 18-30 - Do they still do those?, cruises, Caribean holidays, skiing holidays, etc...) or target certain age groups, or even certain holiday destinations (Greek islands, Southern France).

Once you have established this, then it will make it easier for you to market yourself and your business.

There are a lot of travel agents, so why not specialise and become an authority in a particular area.

Write articles giving travel tips, and submit them to different article directories, post useful information in travel forums, get people to sign up for a travel newsletter, offer free travel promotions to gain some exposure.
