Default Value of an online mentor/coach

Hi everyone,

I would like your opinions and feedback on who has had positive or negative relationships with an online mentor.

I believe there is a great benefit to those who are new, especially in areas where they need to grow.

Tell of your successes and failures in building or fighting through those relationships. As any relationship goes, it takes time, I know.

Any insight would be valuable to me while I am researching this subject through the eyes of those who have been there.

Have a great day,
Lance

Default Mentors

What is appealing about mentors is that you get a coach to assist you in your success. What most of the programs dont tell you is that your mentor is your upline, which in most cases is just as inexperienced as you are. The best mentor is someone who has already been successful and can give you proven techniques and assist you in marketing your new venture. If you havent noticed most of the programs / sytems that are out there do not give you a phone # you can call when you are having trouble. A mentor is nothing more than a trainer / encourager that is or can be available for you to talk with. I would be happy to discuss this further with you if you would like.

Smile Online Mentors !

Having a mentor, albeit an online one, is without doubt a good idea if you want to more successful in any venture. BUT you must choose the right mentor; one who in his own right is very successful in YOUR chosen field. The mentor must be the person himself. NOT just any mentor from the agency or company of that successful person; which unfortunately is the case in most online mentoring services. You'll inevitably have all kinds of problems when this "employed' mentor leaves the agency or company and you'll be assigned another mentor.
This is the experience a number of newbies, that I have mentored, shared with me.So if anyone is looking for and paying for an online mentor, I suppose he/she should "contract" with the actual person you choose to be your mentor.

Default 1on1 Coaching and Mentoring

A number of persons are getting into coaching and mentoring these days.
What people really need is a 1on1 coaching from a Top Marketer. One that will stick with you until you start making some good $.

You are right, they do not give you their personal telephone numbers. Well ! I have taken the next best, I have spoken to some on Skype .

Some of the offering I have seen can be quite pricey. But some would say if you are investing off-line it would cost you mush more.

To Your Success

Althea

Althea, a small suggestion for you.

Instead of the tinyurl in your sig, which tends to make people suspicious, why
not buy a domain name, say YourPersonalCoach.com , and redirect it to wherever you want. They're only about $9 for a year.

Looks more professional too.

The greatest lesson I’ve learned about mentoring is it also depends upon various factors, like which one you choose, how much value you’re getting form him/her, how much time you put to learn and implement those strategies, as without action there is nothing you can get.

Lance,

I think that TRUST is a key factor in following advice from any mentor whether online or face to face, payed for or free.

I am also subscribing to Terry Dean's Monthly Mentor Club and Internship program. A positive opinion that I have is his background in the Internet Marketing world and current content is credible as well as timely and informative, just look at his blog, Internet Business Coaching by Terry Dean. He doesn't promise hype and requires hard work and followthrough. I trust his advice. Should you? That's up to you.

The only negative opinion I have is with free coaching services you'll get no feedback, but great direction. In his Intern program you must be willing to put the time into the assignments and follow through on a timely basis.

If you're willing to pay for his coaching services you will get direct feedback from him by email or if you're willing to pay a little more for email communication and phone consultation. But you must have specific goals or you'll waste your time and money.

I can't tell you that I have reached my goals yet but I feel more confident daily as I work through Terry Dean's mentoring program that by mid August I plan to reach my goal of driving quality traffic to a well constructed website that provides unique ebook products.

I hope this helps. With warm regards.

Ken

Having a mentor, whether online or in the real world, really makes you fast-forward your way to success. With a mentor, basically you can skip past most of the hurdles you face...

Having a mentor also reduces the chances of you having tunnel vision as he/she is always ready to give inputs...

Hi there,

My honest advice would be to find someone you know who you can meet with in person. I have never used the services of one of these Web-based "coaches," but I do know folks who have. They all say the same thing: they're not worth the high cost, and some of them even have no clue what they're talking about.
