Hey Yaro,
For your products you run an affiliate program where people signup for your Aweber subscriber newsletter and then whenever someone buys a product from your list whoever first recommended them gets an commission. I want to do this on my website but I don't know how. Can you or someone please explain how? Ryan McLean |

Ryan the first thing to note is that Aweber is very simple to use. If you don't yet have an account then go and set one up right away.
Once your logged in it will actually provide you with guidance to setting up your list. But in summary here's what you need to do. Set up your account and login. Go to lists and create a new list. Name it something relevant to the actual mailing list you are setting up. This will be posted in the confirmation email that you subscribers receive. Aweber will supply a default redirect page for confirmation instructions but you also have the option to create your own. Set up your follow up messages. Get your messages ready in advance and then simply create your follow up messages. The system will provide you with email templates or you can create your own (if you choose to use HTML message, personally I only send text based messages) and if using HTML messages ensure you also create a text based version for people who don't or can't receive HTML email. If its single followup then you send it right away by assigning a 0 to the follow up delay field. If its a series, such as a 7 day email course you simply set 1 to each of the messages so that the next message will be sent 1 day after the previous one. Finally setup your subscription form. Select the forms menu at the top. You will be able to create various types for forms including the standard static form, pop-up, pop-under, even exit forms. Choose the type you want then use the wysiwyg editor to customise your form and save it. On the next screen there is a link 'Get Code'. You have a choice of javascript or HTML. I use the raw html because I can simply edit it on the fly. Copy that code into your website and you almost done. Test test the form on your site by subscribing to you list. Once it all chacks out your good to go. From there you can either use an automated system to send out emails at prescribed intervals or you can choose the broadcast method which will send ad-hoc emails to your list as little or as often as you need to. I've kept this as short and simple as possible because once your logged into your account you will see just how easy it is. All the best.

No I don't want to know how to use Aweber. I already know how to do that and I have a large and growing list.
I want to use my product to grow my list by getting affiliate marketers to get more people to sign up for my list. Once people sign up I will market to them and if they make a sale I want the commissions to be attributed to the original affiliate who directed them to my site. How do I do this? |

OK my misunderstanding your original post sounded like you needed to know how to use Aweber for marketing to your list.
Based on your most recent reply I'll make the assumption that you have a product that you are trying to market. There are a number of ways to do that. First of all see who you have in your circle of influence who you can JV with. This is the most powerful way to help your new product get traction and to get it out to affiliate networks. Setting up an affiliate program can be done in several ways. If your not familiar with the whole process then I would suggest that to begin with you start off with the established sites such as clickbank or commission junction. This will take a lot of the work out of it for you. If you really want to run your own affiliate network then you will need to set up all of the systems in the back end of your website. I have no idea of your technical abilities or experience so its difficult to make a recommendation to you. There are a number of established programs already available that you could plug into or you could attempt to build one yourself. Again this is all going to come down to your knowledge and abilities and your personal preferences. But if your not experienced in affiliate promotions then I would suggest using clickbank or CJ and as I suggested get in touch with the people in your own circle and setup a JV so that you can start promoting to their lists right off the bat, build in some anticipation prior to your launch, offer some enticement like sneak peaks and perhaps a sneak peak webinar and when your happy with the response your getting from your pre-leauch activities then launch the final product and you should see some pretty good sales within your first 24 hours.

thanks for your reply
As for my technical abilities I have little to none. I am looking for something as 'out of the box' as possible. Let me just emphasise that I am looking for something where affiliates can simply direct people to subscribe to my list, and then when sales are finally made from my direct marketing to the people who have signed up, the orignal affiliate earns a commission. Does this make sense? I want to do what Yaro did when he launched blog mastermind. Do you recal how he launched a free video and got people to sign up to receive the second video for free. Then from those signups he marketed specifically to those people, and when those people converted into sales the person who originally sent that person to the free video signup form gets the commission. Is there anywhere that offers this? |

Yeah absolutely and I think a clickbank or a Cj campaign might work well for you. Just think about and plan your marketing well. Having said that I still personally think that some type of a JV would actually work really well for you.
Talk to the people in your circle and work out who has big lists, and if the people in those list are the right target market for your product. You could use simple strategy that I mentioned which is to have those people start to market your product prior to release. You could then hold a webinar using say gotomeeting, and the purpose of that is to gauge the level of interest that those prospects have in your product. If you only have 3 people signup to attend your sneak peak - prerelease webinar then you have more work to do but of you have space for 250 people and it fills up in a matter of days then you know you are ready to launch. A very effective approach especially if you have a physical product as well as a membership site is to offer the attendees your physical product for free on the basis that they sign up, and from there they also become affiliates for your product who can also offer testimonials and reviews. Say hello to viral marketing. There is a lot of choice but you have to focus on the ones that will have the best affect for your product. If you simply want to get affiliates promoting your product quickly then get it into the Clickbank marketplace and/or Commission Junction and make sure you have a webpage for affiliates with any information they will need, marketing tools such as emails, sales letters and banners and offer a good commission to ensure you get plenty of people promoting it for you. I wish you all the best for your launch.

Thanks for all of your tips. They have been very helpful. This forum is awesome!
How can you combine Clickbank or CJ campaigns with your aweber? Don't they referrers lose the commission as soon as the person signs up for the free offer and leaves the webpage? Or does it last longer than that? Please explain how this works. I don't want to rip my affiliates off by collecting a lot of names but them getting no commissions. |

Ryan both of those companies store a cookie on the visitors computer. So you can sign them up to your list today and say they buy your product a week from now, then the cookie is used to track the commission.
You'll probably want to go and read their terms and FAQ's to get the full picture. One area of clickbank that may not work for (and that I am not a fan of) is that they give the commission to the last affiliate click. So for example lets say a Yaro and myself are 2 of your affiliates. They find Yaros ad first and click on it but don't make a purchase. Then a week later they click on my link and this time they decide to purchase. I get the commission and Yaro misses out. I can see advantages and disadvantages to this but you should probably be aware of it. Its all there on their site you just need to go and read about how both systems work and then you will have a better idea of which one is right for you.

you know; re: marketing affiliate products to a list should be done with caution. I always recommend that you gauge your own response to offers etc, see which offers grab your attention, and when and why you buy.... it will help you with your own promotions.
For your reference, i will tell you what works best on me.... short, concise e-mails linking to a review on a blog - in the early days i would buy via e-mail, but now i get so much of it i rarely would buy from the e-mail itself. hope this helps ![]() final thought - *** words of caution*** treat your list with respect and care, it takes a lot of work to reel em in and barely nothing to lose them.... once they're gone - that's it - make sure you're providing valuable content in your campaigns.
