Hi everyone,
Hopefully I can get some feedback on a few questions. Firstly I'm Andrew and an Australian uni student. I have an ABN as I'm in the throws of starting to do more freelance design work, that's beside the point. I'm interested in blogging and making some money online from designing, advertising or selling some products. I'd like to know a few things about ABN and tax issues, if there are any. At the moment I'm set up as a sole trader operating under my own name. My questions are: -Any money earned on the internet by me will have to go on my tax return. Eg. paypal, cheques, bank deposits. This is true, but... -Do I have to notify anybody of the sites I am running? Eg. Two blogs, freelance website, selling a product on another site. I just have to keep track of all my income and expenses and on my tax return it appears it's from the one source? -Does it matter that money is coming from the US or overseas? -Regarding copyright, if I'm the author and creator of a blog but the title of my blog is 'XYZ' even if I say '(c) XYZ' that still covers me since I can prove everything on there is mine? I guess that is the same with copyrighting a pseudonym, just answered my question. ![]() So basically what I'm wanting to find out is at the moment I'm a sole trader, with an ABN, I can go ahead and make three sites and the money earned from them, whether that be advertising, selling a product or service will all fall under my ONE business? Even I'm getting confused now. Thanks for taking the time to read this. |
