Default Google or YouTube?

I posted this topic a couple days ago, and for some reason I can't find it today. I recieved no notification so I'm posting it again.

Greetings all,
Would like your opinion on whether YouTube is more beneficial than Google for generating trafic to your site? What do base your opinion on?
Regards,
HRB

This depends on what you are marketing. It is that simple, what is not simple is a cover all answer to this problem.

If what you are marketing is already mainstream and viral in nature, then youtube may be the ticket to success, But if it is the new brand of denture cleaner, chances are that youtube will not be as effective as keyword searches in Google.

You would not advertise a rock star in a gardening magazine, would you? Every product, service and business has certain ways to market that are best for them. It is our job as marketers to decide what is best, and test, test, test!

it really depends on what you are posting on your blog. If your post has relevant vids and has very interesting content then youtube is for you, but if its all about articles with relevant keywords then google may be right for you.

I suggest to do post with videos and relevant content for google. That helps.

In order to make the best comparative decision, several factors need to be considered.

Here is what I mean; it depends upon your content like if you would like to drive traffic through Youtube then it would be better if you can have some videos on your site.

Of course YouTube is better when used as a traffic tool but it's not 100% passive traffic. You have to actually take action and record a viral video and even then it's a hit or miss thing. But search traffic, on the other hnd, is 100% passive (after a little SEO) and it continues on forever, many times even years after...

Traffic from a video withers with age. Search traffic doesn't...

I've always been told that you should do both. In fact do more - as many as you can.

Yahoo and MySpace have video and there are some free video submssion services around that work, try

TubeMogul.com - Online Video Distribution and Analytics

Use a different description for each service that you submit to.

Use your main keyword in the heading.

Obviously I have a different opinion to some of the others
