Exclamation Question about Site Maps...

Hi,

Question: Do I need to have a "Site Map" page in my main navigation menu for SEO purposes? ... I notice that Yaro's "Entrepreneurs-Journey.com" site does not have one -- so should I?

Thanks,
mlehman

Yaro has an XML sitemap registered with Google & Yahoo that the search engines can use, and I definitely recommend setting that up (You can get a plugin for it here: WordPress › Google XML Sitemaps « WordPress Plugins )

As for a sitemap for users - I don't know how useful that really is. Most people just search. For my main site, I have 2 sitemaps, one by category and one by date. Both are very large pages. I haven't checked to see how much traffic they get but I doubt its much.

Thumbs up E-Commerce Help is Here!

What I can share you about this is that simply by creating a sitemap that tells Google to crawl your website will enhance the chances of listing higher in Google searches, that's what Google Sitemaps do. Try to check more how it helps.

Site maps can improve search engine optimization of a site by making sure that all the pages can be found.

if you resubmit your xml sitemap to google through your account every time you update it by adding a new page you improve your chances of having the new page indexed quickly by google. i do not think it will help you with SERPs but it will speed up the recognition process

Yup, and that is exactly the same thing I do on my blog. It definitely streamlines the process of sending things to Google as the xml sitemap is automatically updated for them and pings them to boot.
