Hello everyone, and a Happy New Year to you all.

My name is Aitch (pronounced ‘H’) and Yaro has asked me be a moderator for this new forum which I’ve happily accepted, at least on a temporary basis.

I’m a 44 yr old male from the UK but have been living and working in Thailand for the past 3 years.

I came out here to manage a high street business for a UK investor which turned out to be a complete disaster from both a financial and career perspective. From a positive point of view though, there were some valuable lessons learnt along the way.

Anyway, as I was already in Thailand and in a relationship, I decided to stay on and have a go at something else, but wasn’t sure what, so the thinking cap went on.

I had a couple of mates out here that were quite successful at running local websites which generated a reasonable amount of income. Assuming I was a bit more computer literate than they were, and also armed with a somewhat unhealthy obsession for perfection, I decided to take advantage of all this newly acquired time on my hands and create a virtual business that was to be an overnight success. Hmm! I got that bit very wrong!

After talking to a bunch of different people, I decided to have a go at setting up a website for the home hunters of Thailand, and so MrRoomfinder.com was born. This is my first and only website to date and it’s been live now for around 8 months. I’ll not go into the ins and outs of the project at this stage but I still firmly believe in my heart or hearts that I’m on to a winner so long as I stick it out and keep listening and leaning along the way. I’m absolutely passionate about that.

It’s places like Yaro’s blog and this forum that can inject inspiration and determination when one is working alone in his or her strive for success, which in my case can be interpreted to mean a liveable salary and freedom from the norm. If anything more evolves from it than that, it’s a bonus, but it’s not part of the immediate plan.

Let’s make this forum into a great resource for all like minded folk as we assist each other in achieving our goals and objectives to the best of our ability. Along with Yaro’s blog, and the interaction that these rooms allow us, I think there’s a good chance to build a thriving community here.

I look forward to getting to know you all over the coming weeks and months.

Cheers

Aitch

Thanks for helping out Aitch, much appreciated.

So I presume your web project isn't paying the bills quite yet so have you taken a job in Thailand or are you living off savings? The dollar exchange rate must have been good to you coming from the USA.

If you could get a few good AdSense sites going the US payment would be a good living in Thailand no?

Hi Yaro.

Sorry for the late reply but I was getting technical errors when attempting to log onto the forum Yesterday!

No, the project isn't paying any bills at the moment. I expected it would be at least contributing by now but realise that that was just wishful thinking on my part. Patience and persistence is the key here and lots or it!

I haven't taken a 'day job' as yet and have been living off savings for the past 19 months. However, I’m not a rich guy and money going out with nothing coming in can only last for so long.

To be honest, being new to this 'internet game' coupled with a little impatience, I’ve been working on this project almost full time for the past 12 months so have had very little time for anything else.

All the hard graft is over now though (from a site construction point of view) and it's just a case of fine tuning, trying & testing, hoping and praying that it will all click together at some point in the future.

I think sometimes it's important for us so called solopreneurs to step out of our own way from time to time and listen to those in the know a bit more in order to get a fresh perspective on what it is we’re working towards.

I hope that in the future I’ll get some sound advice from other members of this forum and also be a useful contributor myself in our attempts to help each other out.

BTW, I’m from the UK, not the USA but the rate was/is still good for me.

Good luck with the forum mate.

Aitch

Ahh, the UK is even better! Pounds are very powerful indeed no matter where in the world you go.

I would recommend, if you have all the main things done with your roomfinder project, you start playing with some new projects. Maybe even consider buying a small AdSense earning site and see how that goes. Or start your own from scratch. I'm sure you with your exposure to local markets you could stumble across a niche that needs content that you could provide.

Have I missed an article somewhere Yaro? How would one go about buying a small AdSense earning site? Please point me to the direction of such information as it may be food for thought.

I'm sure there's an undiscovered niche or two out there somewhere, but believe you me, most foreigners have Bangkok and Thailand pretty well covered now. The thinking caps always on though!

Cheers

Thanks Yaro, I'll go take a look now, although I’m not sure I’m at a competent level to buy, bid, or run a site that’s alien to me just yet.

Should I see something that interests me, I may post back for a bit of help and advice from the forum if that's okay?

Cheers

Aitch

Definitely Aitch - the only problem with asking for feedback before buying is you may alert others to a bargain and they will jump in and buy it.

That’s a good and logical point Yaro.

I guess the idea would to be to post a hypothetical situation based on a real potential!
